NEW VW BUS

For some reason, the VW bus doesnt really seemed to be classed as a "Classic", though loads of people love it, and some people still go on thier holidays in the camper versions, while others use them as a old equivalent of a renault espace or ford galaxy. Oh and its never-ending popularity with surfers means they start to become more and more common on the way down to Cornwall. Anyway, it is overall a great-looking vehicle which is probably fun to drive too, as you sit way up there (above most modern MPV's) with the horizontal steering wheel, its probably more like driving a lorry..but faster and lighter.

Old VW bus/Caravelle/Hippy mobile/Beetlevan/Mk 2...

There was a 'sort-of' sucessor to this vehicle called the VW caravelle, which mostly found use as a normal van, or a disabled-access Taxi, so we'll discount that one, and look at the concept for the new version...

A model of the new version

Hmm...chunky shape, big alloys..almost reminds me of the new capri, but this is good and that is crap, Yes, in these modern times when MPV's (or "People carriers" to give them the name i was used to while growing up) are popular, a new version of this vehicle was bound to happen. This concept seems to show a people-carrier version (with seats in the back), but using a camper-version 'extendo-roof' on top...oh well, its probably only a demonstration model. It does seem, however, that they are planning to market it as a luxury limo-like vehicle with a drinking problem, but that was probably just the top of the range version..there will hopefully be cheaper ones..i cant wait for it!
