Yes, after months and months of speculation in online communities (much of it typed in feeble attempts at english by uneducated 'gangsta' pricks who belive any bullshit rumour or see useless "clues" in other games like the fact there's a red bridge in Mafia is 'proof' that the next game would be set in san andreas, even though mafia was made before GTA3 and by totally different people), San Andreas was finally announced by rockstar games. A certian other group of idiots who work in a games magazine assumed that san andreas would mean it was set in a hippy commune around the san andreas fault, because thier memory was destroyed by too much cocaine to remeber that San andreas was the name of the second, San fracisco-like city in the first GTA. Anyway, the game is expected to come around around october 2004, and be set in a San-francisco-esque city, like the SA from the first GTA. There is much speculation over the time period, either 1970's (because vice city was in the 80's), or Modern-day (like GTA3), personally i dont care much about the time period, because either way its going to be an amazing game, just like all the others. But of course rockstar will have to make some improvements to keep up with the "new wave" of driving games that are on the horizon, or even out, for instance the realistic physics and crash damage of Driver 3, and the sheer size of the city in True crime: Streets of LA (ok, most of the areas in that game looked the samey and boring), but i'm sure rockstar can deliver, all we need to do now is wait for the trickle of screenshots and movie clips to start, i'll keep you informed!, or you could read a games site or something..
